Yahoo Quote Server Status

Look here for important announcements about Fund Manager

Several of the Yahoo quote servers are currently not working. Yahoo's server is returning an error, saying the server is unable to process the request at this time. This issue started November 1, 2017. This affects all versions of Fund Manager. These Yahoo quote servers are currently not working:

Yahoo
Yahoo - Argentina
Yahoo - Australia & New Zealand
Yahoo - Brazil
Yahoo - France
Yahoo - Germany
Yahoo - India
Yahoo - Italy
Yahoo - Mexico
Yahoo - Singapore
Yahoo - Spain
Yahoo - Spanish
Yahoo - UK & Ireland

The following Yahoo quote servers are still working:

Yahoo (Adjusted Historical)
Yahoo (Alternate)
Yahoo (Historical)
Yahoo (Options)
Yahoo (Real-Time)

We will be monitoring this situation, and post updates here as we learn more. You can either change to use a different quote server (like the Wall Street Journal), or wait and see if Yahoo fixes the service.

Information on each of the quote servers is available here. The default global quote server can be set under "Options / Internet Settings...". If the new quote server you select uses different symbols, you may need to update the symbols for these investments. For additional help on how to adjust your quote server settings, see our Retrieving Prices Tutorial.
Thanks,
Mark

UPDATE: Someone from Yahoo has confirmed they are aware of the problem, and working to resolve it as soon as possible.
Thanks,

UPDATE 2: This same Yahoo representative is now saying that the interface being used by Fund Manager to get quotes is going to be discontinued. We are looking into alternatives, and will likely be publishing an updated quote module.
Thanks,
Mark

UPDATE 3: Yahoo has announced they are discontinuing the interface previously used by Fund Manager. Therefore, we have released a new quote module (522) to address this problem. This update fixes all the previously broken Yahoo servers. Unfortunately these fixed Yahoo servers are significantly slower than before. If you have many quotes to retrieve you may consider looking at other quote servers.

To change your default quote server in Fund Manager use "Options / Internet Settings...". If your log continues to show prices being retrieved from Yahoo then you have overridden the quote server for that investment. Check this override setting under "Investment Properties... / Internet Retrieve". For more detailed help, see the Price Retrieve Tutorial.

One good alternative server is the "Wall Street Journal". If you change to the Wall Street Journal server please note that you must set the symbol and investment type in Fund Manager. Most symbols are probably the same as on Yahoo, but if any fail to retrieve, check for the correct symbol using your web browser on the WSJ site. The investment type can be set for each investment under "Investment Properties... / General / Type:".

Use "Help / Fund Manager on the Web / Check for Updates..." to download the new quote module. The updated quote module (522) is available for Fund Manager 2016 and 2018. We are no longer providing updates to older versions.
Thanks,
Mark

UPDATE 4: Quote module 523 has been released. It adds support for a new quote server "CNN Money" intended to replace the Yahoo server. CNN Money is significantly faster than Yahoo. CNN Money is only available in Fund Manager 2018.

If you are currently using "Yahoo" for your default quote server we suggest changing this to "CNN Money". CNN Money is significantly faster than both Yahoo and WSJ. You can change your default quote server under "Options / Internet Settings...".

Mark

Mark
