CD treatment

General questions about using Fund Manager that do not fit into any other forum.

I have enough CDs that they must appear in my bond ladder. If only the maturity date and face value are there, I'll get by. But still...

Fidelity doesn't recognize 10M face value of a CD as 100 shares @ $100 face value.
In reconciliation, it shows 10M shares. If I change to 10M shares, the Data Register shows impressive growth ;-) ! so that's little help.

This is clean and consistent enough (and there's no problem with Merrill Lynch), so clearly it's just a gap between FM and Fidelity. And I could ignore it in the reconciliation window. But suggestions/observations are welcome.

Hi JeanneMarie,

If you want the Face Value to report, you need to record them like bonds, where the shares are 1/100th the face value and the price is near par (100). You could manually mark this account as reconciled after verifying it, or you could set these investments to be ignored when reconciling:

Investment Properties... / Other / Ignore when reconciling

I'd probably not turn on that option, and just reconcile by retrieving from the broker, and make sure everything is correct, and then switch the statement source to manual reconciliation, and mark the account as reconciled.
Thanks,
Mark

Thanks, Mark, for walking thru that. It makes perfect sense but I would have walked around in circles for a while before I nailed it. You've narrowed the circle considerably.
