Graph Portfolio/Investment Overlay Options

General questions about using Fund Manager that do not fit into any other forum.

Postby dmrsmmac » Sun Mar 29, 2015 1:04 pm

I am trying to graph a Portfolio/Investment Overlay. I would like to select investments to overlay with the overlay dialog. However, when I click Graphs, "Options" is not an option. What am I doing wrong?
Thanks...

Hi dmrsmmac,

You need to first create the graph window, so select "Graphs / Portfolio/Investment Overlay" to choose the desired graph type you want. Once you're in this graph window, then you should see the "Graphs / Options" menu.
Thanks,
Mark

Thank-you Mark. I got that far. Now how do I get an Index, like the DOW or a Vanguard fund to overlay? The only choices I see are those that are in my portfolio.
Regards, Don

Hi Don,

Create a new investment for whatever index you want, and retrieve historical prices for it. You don't need to own any shares. For example, the S&P 500 has a symbol of ^GSPC on Yahoo. You can also put any indices in a separate sub-portfolio, outside your owned account sub-portfolios.
Thanks,
Mark
