saving .dat on desktop

HI I note all the new positions are being saved on the dektop

Should these be In the FM folder? If so it is safe to copy them over and how can I stop this for happening again

Hi Alan,

There is a preference in the retrieve transaction dialog that controls where new investments are saved. The Desktop isn't a very good place for them. The default is in your "My Documents \ Fund Manager" folder. To fix this, use "File / File Operations / Set Data Location..." and move everything into the folder where you would like them stored. This will also change the default for newly created investments. After this, you can safely delete the *.dat files off your Desktop.
