Hi Mark on my Vista computer I noticed yesterday thatFM on Vista hasn't been updating prices every day when I tell it to I have dayley price updates starting 1/16/2008 . That is about the date I got my Vista computer.I took the FM Data file from a XP x64 which is still working. I try to keep it uptodate as a back up. Vista doesn'd update prices but FM gives me a message updated so many investments but it doesn't record any prices. Any idea what Imight have done wrong?XP x64 is updated OK I use a KVMswitch both computers are hooke to the same monitor keyboard and mouse.I am not using FM on but one computer at the time . You said this arangement was OK a long time ago.

Hi Lawrence,

After you do a price retrieve, if you look in the Data Register under the "Prices" data type, do you see the updated prices? Where are you viewing that the prices aren't updated?
Thanks,
Mark

Hi Mark;
I am not seeing updated prices in Data register/prices. When I look in the same place in FM on XP x64 I see updated prices. Is it possible to hide the updated prices?

Hi Lawrence,

Are you updating the investments on the same computer where you're looking at the prices? Please do an internet retrieve of the prices on this same computer, and then look in the Data Register. You can also turn on confirmation notices under "Options / General Preferences... / Display". You might want to focus on just a single investment at first, to narrow down the problem. Right mouse click on a single investment in the Portfolio Editor, and choose "Retrieve Selected Price" from the popup menu. If the confirmation notice says you updated the price okay, then you should be able to view the updated price in the Data Register under the "Prices" data type.
Thanks,
Mark

Hi Mark;
On FM on Vista Confim notification box is checked . Things look the same on old computer. I am on Vista I update prices get pop up updated 42 prices still on Vista go data rigister no prices are shown as updated.
I go old computer update prices get pop up 42 prices updated go data register see updated prices.
To the best of my ability FM setting on Vista & FM settings on old computer are exactly the same.
Vista says it is updating prices but on Vista I can't see any updates
I think it is so of Vista's crazy stuff . But if Vista was blocking the updates I would think it wouldblock the popup also. Sorry to be such a bother. Do you have any ideas?

Hi lbrandon,

Let's just focus on the Vista computer. To keep it simple, let's update one price. Open up the Portfolio Editor, and right mouse click on a single investment, and choose "Retrieve Selected Price". Assuming the confirmation gives you a message that the price was updated, open the Data Register, and check these items:

- Make sure you are looking at the "Prices" data type. See the selection in the upper/right corner of the Data Register.

- Make sure you are sorting the list view by date. The date column should have a sort arrow in the header, and your prices should be ordered by date. If you are sorting by another column, it may not be as obvious if today's price is updated.
Thanks,
Mark
