Previously imported transacrions

General questions about using Fund Manager that do not fit into any other forum.

Postby Mike » Thu Oct 30, 2008 7:49 am

Good morning, Mark,

When importing transactions from the broker/dealer checking the box to ignore transactions already in FM has no effect. Every time I have imported transactions including a date already entered those transactions were entered again. I spent a lot of time manually removing double entered transactions which were found when reconciling. It would be nice if the feature worked. For now I make a note as to the last file imported and use only the date or dates not previously used. Otherwise everything gets imported.

Any thoughts?

Hi Mike,

Is this something you can reproduce? Try this: Close your current portfolio, and in a new portfolio, import some transaction file, and then repeat that same import with this option to skip transactions already in FM turned on. Do you see any transactions in the preview window during the 2nd import? If so, please email me this test transaction file, along with which interface you're using, and I'll take a look.

Please note, this option only skips exactly identical transactions. If you've modified the transaction in any way after the first import, it will not be considered a duplicate in subsequent imports.
Thanks,
Mark

Mark,

I do not alter transactions. In any case, sure I can recreate it. All I have to do is select a date already imported. When I continue with that they will all be re-entered thereby duplicating existing entries.

I will try to find some time to do what you asked. Meantime, I just ignore prior dates to save myself a lot of work.

If I don't get back to you before, have a great week-end.

Mark,

The problem persists and frankly I do not have the time to re-invent the wheel to give you what you asked for. I am happy to show you a screen showing the problem. This was only one account but others were affected for this particular date.

Since I cannot insert an image here the above button notwithstanding, I will email you the image.

Hi Mike,

For some reason I'm not able to reproduce this here. I did receive your picture, and see the duplicates. I don't want to use up much of your time, but I'd like to try to reproduce it on your system, with your data, since you seem to be able to reproduce it. You may be doing something different than I'm trying. It should only take 5-10 minutes. Please email me with your number, and a good time to call. I'll connect to your system, and take a look.
Thanks,
Mark
