Subportfolios don't show up on portfolio editor's left frame

General questions about using Fund Manager that do not fit into any other forum.

Mark,

Still encountering some bizarre stuff that I've never encountered with previous versions of FM.

Today, while viewing the Portfolio lost and ultimately retrieved last evening, I suddenly am not able to get all the sub-portfolios to show up on the left side of the portfolio editor screen. Actually, the left frame of the portfolio editor screen is entirely blank, whether one scrolls up to the top or down. Sub-portfolio reports are still retrievable.

This issue was not present as soon as the portfolio was restored yesterday, seeming to come out of nowhere today. How can I once again view the individual sub-portfolios on the left side of the portfolio editor?

Hi SDS,

Is your Portfolio Editor fully visible, or maybe partially off the screen? I'm guessing it is partially off the screen. You can either re-size it yourself, or use a command like "Window / Tile Down" from within Fund Manager. That should rearrange any open windows, so that you can see all of them completely. Given that you see a scroll bar, it indicates to me that there are several sub-portfolios listed, but probably off the left side of the screen. Using Window / Tile Down should help correct the problem.
Thanks,
Mark

No, this is definitely not a visibility issue.

Of note, when I checked hidden investments/portfolios today, all the subportfolios reappeared. Have no idea how my entire list of subportfolios became 'hidden' (all at once). If this is not a bug, how do I 'unhide' all subportfolios?

Hi SDS,

This is odd... You can only hide/un-hide sub-portfolios by going into their 'Properties...' page. Right mouse click on them in the portfolio editor, and choose this from the popup menu. I'm assuming you didn't go in and hide all of your sub-portfolios, but I'm not sure how they would have become hidden. It is possible there is a bug we haven't found yet, or maybe your portfolio file got corrupted again, or maybe it was a result of what you went through before. I'm not sure... If there is something that you can help me reproduce here I'd like to know about it, so we can try to find and fix it.
Thanks,
Mark

No, I didn't hide all my subportfolios, at least not intentionally. Unless I am mistaken, I would have to go to each subportfolio separately, rather than in one fell swoop, to accomplish hiding each of these and I didn't do that.

Mark, sorry, I am not trying to be difficult --but are you saying I need to un-hide each subportfolio individually even though it is not possible to hide all collectively (I definitely didn't hide each subportfolio)? If so, how do I do that?

Hi SDS,

I'm not sure what happened either, but yes, you would need to un-hide each sub-portfolio individually. To do this, go into the Portfolio Editor, and right mouse click on each sub-portfolio and choose 'Properties...'. Remove the check mark in the 'Hidden' box, and hit OK.

Another possibility is that only the highest level sub-portfolio got marked as hidden. This would cause everything beneath it to not be displayed.
Thanks,
Mark
