options query

General questions about using Fund Manager that do not fit into any other forum.

For the first time, I am attempting to track a covered call. I have read the help page, but still have some points of confusion. Let's suppose I sold July 10 calls for AUY (AUYGB) at 1.25.
Two questions:
1) How would I get the daily updates? The Yahoo and Bloomberg servers don't appear to me to do automated downloads for any of the options symbols
2) I'm not sure how to do the "cash account" for the proceeds. I can see going to portfolio properties and creating it, but not how to automatically route the sell to open proceeds in to it.

Hi mattorel,

1) Yahoo does offer option quotes. To find out the symbol, go to Yahoo Finance, and look up the underlying quote (AUY). Then, on the left hand menu click on "Options". You can select the option expiration month along the top to see all the Put and Call symbols for the different strike prices for that month.

2) You do this just like any other sell. Make sure your sub-portfolio where you're selling the covered call has a default cash account assigned when you record the sell. For some help on setting this up look in the tutorial. Click on "Manually Enter Historical Transactions" and then "Create/assign a new investment for the default cash account".
Thanks,
Mark
