Fidelity - retrieved interest alocation

General questions about using Fund Manager that do not fit into any other forum.

Postby nebfinfm » Sat Jan 26, 2019 4:44 am

I just discovered that interest earned on the cash balance of Fidelity default cash account is retrieved from Fidelity as „Buy/Sell - Purchase“ with memo INTEREST EARNED. This is wrong, it should be allocated to „Distribution - Interest earned reinvested“ .

Right now I am manually changing each entry. Any suggestion how to fix this problem?

Thanks nebfinfm

Hi nebfinfm,

It may be that is how Fidelity is reporting this. Can you email or post the section of your log (Help / Logs / Transaction Retrieve (Parsed...)" that shows this interest transaction?
Thanks,
Mark

Hi nebfinfm,

Thanks for sending the log file. Fidelity is reporting cash account interest as an "Investment Banking" transaction of type "Deposit". Therefore, FM is recording this as a buy, instead of a reinvested distribution of type interest income. I think we can add a special check for this case, since the memo does say "INTEREST EARNED". We will shoot to include this in the next major update.
Thanks,
Mark
