Version 127 Transaction Retrieve Module

General questions about using Fund Manager that do not fit into any other forum.

Postby Clive » Wed Jan 23, 2008 10:06 am

Hi Mark,

I attempted to download version 127 of TRANRETR.DLL but the download failed. TRANRETR.DLL file is no longer on my computer. Further attempts to download it are unsuccessful.

I'm getting multiple error messages, as follows:

The device attached to the system is not functioning.
Error #33
Could not load TRANRETR.DLL.
One of the library files needed to run this application could not be found.
Error #1157.

Any suggestion? Where can I get TRANRETR.DLL so I can manually install it in my Fund Manager directory?

Thanks
Clive

Hi Clive,

Is your internet connection working okay?

You can manually download this dll from:

http://www.fundmanagersoftware.com/prog ... anretr.dll
Thanks,
Mark

Hi Mark,

I may have been premature when I thought all was well.

I noticed FM 7.8 was available so I upgraded today from FM 7.7 and attempted to update Quote & Transaction DLL's to latest versions. The Quote server updated OK but the Transaction server seemed download OK but then a series of errors occurred within FM as follows:

* A device attached to the system is not working

* Error #31

* Could not load tranretr.dll

* currently using tranretr.dll 0, latest available is 127

I get similar messages when I attempt to get a status report on the quote servers or select Help/About.

I didn't have this problem with version 126 and earlier and my computer seems to working fine otherwise, so I don't know what attached device FM is referring to. (I'm still using Win95). As I don't use the Transaction Download feature, is there any need for me to keep upgrading the tranretr.dll because this seems to be the root cause of my problem.

Regards,

Clive

Hi Clive,

I would suggest just downloading the DLL from here:

http://www.fundmanagersoftware.com/prog ... anretr.dll

and placing it in your Fund Manager folder, with fm.exe. If you don't retrieve transactions you don't need to update this module in the future.

I would not upgrade to any newer versions of Fund Manager, as Windows 95 is no longer on our list of supported operating systems... It is rather remarkable you've made it this far with Win95. :)
Thanks,
Mark

I seem to have the same problem as the other user. I tried your advice to download the file from your site. However, when I click the link I am I received a dialog box stateing that I am trying to open this file and I am asked to select a program with which to open it. There is no option to save the file. Have a suggestion? Thanks.

Hi H089590,

In general, you should not have to manually download this file. You should be able to use "Help / FM on the Web / Check for Updates..." and FM will automatically download the latest DLLs for you. If for some reason that isn't working you can manually download it. I'm not sure why you wouldn't have the option to save this file. You might try using a different web browser, you really should get an option to save the file.
Thanks,
Mark
