PARTIAL RESTORE

General questions about using Fund Manager that do not fit into any other forum.

Postby Arrow » Mon May 01, 2023 8:20 am

Due to the fact that my accounts cannot be updated automatically and it must be done manually
I'm trrying to find a way that my emploiee can do it for me.

The point is that I use only one portfolio and I woul like my emploiee to have access only to specific subportfolios, not all.

I've tried to make a partial restore on her computer but it does not work.
Same way I've tried to study how to password protect certain subfolders but, if If I'm not wrong,
I have concluded there is no solution.

Could you please give advice on how to do it?
Thanks in advance

Hi Arrow,

You could create a second *.mm4 portfolio file that only contains the sub-portfolios you want to share. The sub-portfolios in both *.mm4 portfolio files would point to the same investments, so no matter where you update them, they will be updated in both.

An easy way to do this is in the Portfolio Editor. Select the sub-portfolio to share, and use "Edit / Copy". Use "File / Close Portfolio" and then "Edit / Paste" and then "File / Save Portfolio As..." to save this to a new *.mm4 portfolio file. You can now backup just this second *.mm4 file to a *.FMB file, and share that.
Thanks,
Mark
