Hi Lawrence,
Check and see where your data files are open from. I wouldn't delete anything, including the data files in the Program Files folder. You may still be using them.
To figure out where your data files are coming from, there are a couple of easy ways:
1) Create a "Custom" report, and add the "Path and filename" field. Set the portfolio to report on as your topmost sub-portfolio, turn off sub-totals, and list by investment. This will show you where all your investments are coming from, and the total at the bottom will show where your portfolio file is coming from.
2) Add the "Location" field to the Portfolio Editor using "View / List Columns...".
If you need to change the location of some investment, select it, and choose "File / Save Investment As..." and pick the location in your "My Documents \ Fund Manager" folder.
Once you've made sure all your data files are coming from this folder, you should not get that error anymore, unless for some reason your data files are marked as read-only.
