Distributions

General questions about using Fund Manager that do not fit into any other forum.

Postby wizard348 » Thu Aug 26, 2010 12:21 pm

Even though I don't own some of the funds that I am tracking, I would like to see the Distributions that they make.

Is there a way to get Fund Manager to import the distributions, when they are made, even though I don't own the fund yet ??? Right now I have to go over to Fidelity and look up what the distribution was and manually put it in. I have been using Fund Manager for a few years and I am spoiled with it doing everything for me.

Thank you. And for all the guest that are viewing this site, Fund Manager is the best tool, for the money, that you will find on line. TRY IT !!! YOU WILL BUY IT !!!

Thanks
Gary

Hi Gary,

First off, thanks for the nice recommendation.

If you don't own an investment, but want to include distributions, you have a few choices:

1) Manually enter them, as you've been doing.
2) Retrieve prices from Yahoo (Adjusted Historical).
3) Retrieve prices and distributions from Yahoo (Historical).

#2 will back adjust all prices prior to distributions, down by the amount of the distribution. You won't have actual distribution transactions, but the prices will be inclusive of the performance of the distributions.

#3 requires the Professional or Advisor versions of Fund Manager. When you retrieve you'll see the option to "Retrieve Distributions", and it will get the distribution data from Yahoo, if available.
Thanks,
Mark
