Reconciliation wizard issues

General questions about using Fund Manager that do not fit into any other forum.

Postby birkett18 » Tue Mar 08, 2011 6:37 pm

I'm new to FM and download my etrade account. One issue when I tried reconcilation wizard. It show cash from my account $3.45 but fund manager zero. When I tried to edit it, it puts me into the Data Register. Showing date/price/shares/total/fee/type/memo.

What do I do? Tried adding dividend for 3.45, but did not work.

Hi birkett18,

In the Data Register make sure you are under the data type of "Investments (all)", and then press "New..." and enter a buy of $3.45. For cash, the price should always be $1, so the value and shares should both be 3.45.

A buy will increase the number of shares. You could also record a reinvested distribution, where you buy 3.45 shares from some type of distribution. If you'd prefer to record it that way, set the Data Type to "Distributions (all)", press "New...", and enter the information, checking the "Reinvested" option.
Thanks,
Mark

I just did that and the reconciliatin wizard screen still shows fund manager $0 and statement $3.45. It does not allow me to click on the next button.

I had enter as you had indicated. Price is $1.

Hi birkett18,

The reconciliation wizard is showing share balance (not value). Do you own 3.45 shares of that investment in Fund Manager? Maybe you entered the transaction for a date _after_ the reconciliation date? You must enter the adjustment/correction on/before the date being reconciled. Transactions that are recorded after the reconciliation date aren't included in your owned shares as of that date.
Thanks,
Mark
