Find investment among portfolios

General questions about using Fund Manager that do not fit into any other forum.

Hi Mark,

I have my investments divided into a number of subportfolios and quite a few are hidden because they are no longer active. Sometimes I want to find an old investment but don't remember which subportfolio it is in. Is there a way to have FM search for it by symbol and tell me the subportfolio? I'm using the personal edition.

Thanks,
Ivan

Hi Ivan,

Sure. Create a Custom report with the "Symbol" field. Create it at your top-most sub-portfolio, turn OFF sub-totals, and list by Investment. Now, you will have a flat listing of all your investments. You can then use "Sort / Symbol" to sort your report by symbol.
Thanks,
Mark

Thanks Mark. What I still need is a column that tells me what subportfolio the investment is in.

Hi Ivan,

If you hover your mouse over an investment, the sub-portfolio hierarchy is shown in the status bar. You can also include that field in the report itself. See "Portfolio Hierarchy" or the shorter version "Portfolio Parent".
Thanks,
Mark
