Invst. in Data Register is missing but file is "Open"

Hi Mark,

Need your help again.

Click cntrl P and try to open a investment .dat file that is displayed from Windows Explorer (Win 7) with the File/Open Invst menu; get a warning that the investment is already open, do you wish to open another instance ?, I reply "no" or cancel. Then I cannot find the investment in the data register accessed either by F5 or the data register icon.

This is very perplexing. So I simply saved the data register and portfolio, closed FM, re-opended FM and tried again with the same steps. Same missing data

This may have to do with a procedure we are using to delete duplicate .dat files manually in Window Explorer.

What am I doing wrong ?

Hi Paul3nt,

Did you try turning on "View / Hidden Investments/Portfolios"? Maybe the investment is hidden, and if you're not displaying hidden investments it won't show up in the Data Register even though it is open.

You may also want to run a Custom report with "Path and filename", so you can find the location/filename of all your currently opened investments. You can sort by this field too from the top level Sort menu.
