In 4 sub portfolios I want to add a cash account used as a checking account, Each sub portfolio accumulates dividends that are lumped together for future use

Hi Maraud,

This is fine to do. If you don't already have the investment for this cash, just create it with "New Investment...". Once you have created the cash investment, assign it as the default cash account in these 4 sub-portfolios. If you place the cash investment outside these 4 sub-portfolios, in order to assign it in the sub-portfolios, turn on the "Show All" option in the Portfolio Properties dialog, which will then show all open investments, and not just investments located in that sub-portfolio. It is perfectly fine to select a cash investment located outside a sub-portfolio for your default cash account.
Thanks,
Mark
