Saved investments in wrong folder

General questions about using Fund Manager that do not fit into any other forum.

Postby NewCastlePA » Thu Mar 08, 2012 7:14 am

Hi,

Somehow I saved a group of new investments in the \Mydocuments folder rather than the \MyDocuments\FundManager folder.
Can I simply copy/paste them into the FundManager folder, or are there more hoops to jump though ?

The new investments appear in the correct portfolio with the older investments.

Hi NewCastlePA,

You will want to move them from within Fund Manager. You can use the Portfolio Editor window. Turn on "Location" by going to "View / List Columns...", so you can see the location of each investment file. For any that are not in the desired location, select that investment, and choose "File / Save Investment As..." and re-save it to the desired location.

Once you're sure you're not using the investment files at the original location, you can delete them. You might want to temporarily move them somewhere else, and re-start Fund Manager to make sure you weren't still using any of them. If you were, you will receive an error message when you re-start Fund Manager and it attempts to open the investment files you moved.

If you are retrieving transactions, press the "Options..." button next to the "Create New Investments Automatically" import option to specify where your new investments should be saved.
Thanks,
Mark
