Hi,

I'm currently trying out the advisor version.

The main reason for using a fund management software for me would be to reduce the amount of manual work for tracking client progress etc.
There are a lot of nice features but there is one thing that I don't understand.

Let's say I have 10 clients in my fund, do I need to enter each trade as a separate one for each client ?

As I do it today I just split the investment P&L between the clients...

So for instance if I buy and sell 14 futures contracts and loose $5000, that would mean each client lost $500.

I can't see how I could split 14 contracts between 10 clients if it's needed to enter them one by one..

Hi Lars,

Despite its name, Fund Manager is not really for managing a mutual fund. It is for managing portfolios, where each portfolio is fully owned by a particular client. It works by tracking each client's portfolio separate, not a shared pool of investments, where each client owns a percentage. In the portfolio management case you would buy a specific number of shares for each client, and record this transaction for each client.
Thanks,
Mark

Thank you for the quick response.

Is there a way for copying portfolios or what would be the best way to enter trades for multiple portfolios?

Hi Lars,

If you have your executed transactions in an electronic format, the easiest is to import this file. It sounds like you may be doing a single trade and then manually dividing that up among all your clients? If so, you can use copy/paste in the Data Register, assuming all the trades are for the same shares/amount. Once you enter one trade, you can select it, right mouse click, and choose "Copy". Switch over to another client's investment, right mouse click and choose "Paste".
Thanks,
Mark
