Retrieving prices

General questions about using Fund Manager that do not fit into any other forum.

I cannot retrieve prices for three of the four portfolios. I get a message, "Could not open C:\Documents and settings\Daniel\Application\Data\Fund Manager\comm_dll.txt". Any good ideas out there?

Hi hoot7,

That is a log file used by Fund Manager when retrieving prices. It needs to be writable by Fund Manager. It sounds like somehow that file has incorrect permissions, or is marked as read-only. You can safely just delete that file, so that Fund Manager can create it when doing a price retrieve.

Hi hoot7,

Use Windows to delete it. You can use the "Windows Explorer" program in Windows to find and delete that file. The "Application Data" folder is hidden by default, so make sure you are displaying hidden files/folders. See "Tools / Folder Options... / View" from within Windows Explorer to turn on the display of hidden files/folders.
