General questions about using Fund Manager that do not fit into any other forum.

Mark Hi

I have 2 portfolios with the same investments and currency settings. Still only adjusts correctly to and from Default Currency when I toggle the View/Exchange Rate Adjusted button the other remains frozen in the investment currency...any pointers?

Thx

Hi Costas,

By "2 Portfolios", do you mean 2 different sub-portfolios within a given portfolio file (*.mm4), or do you mean 2 different portfolio files? Typically you would work with only a single portfolio file, and use sub-portfolios. If you have 2 different portfolio files, each one will have separate currency settings, so you would want to verify they are both set the same.

If you do mean 2 sub-portfolios, then you can check the investment properties of the one that stays in the assigned currency. Make sure it is not set to an investment type of "Exchange Rate Investment". Also, verify under "Options / Currency Settings..." that it is not assigned as an exchange rate investment. In both these cases it will always stay in the assigned currency.
Thanks,
Mark

Please bear with me..
They are same investments posted in two subpotfolios.
Checked again the investment type and are not set to exchange rate.
I do not understand how these investments can change correctly into the base currency in the one sub portfolio and still stay frozen in their foreign currency in the other..

What do you mean to check the portfolio properties?

Thx

Hi Costas,

Thanks for the clarification. Check under "Options / Currency Settings..." and make sure neither of these 2 investments are assigned as an exchange rate investment for any of the 24 non-default currencies. If that still doesn't solve the problem, please either email or post some screen shots demonstrating the problem. Show the assigned currency, your currency settings dialog, and how you are verifying the data is being displayed in the foreign currency even when "View / Exchange Rate Adjusted" is turned on.
Thanks,
Mark
