can I change info across multiple investments?

Thanks Mark,
The insight into the retrieve currency selection should make downloading my trades doable as manually setting new symbols once is defiantly doable.

I do have US and CAD in the same accounts but they are held in Canadian brokerages which do not offer the retrieve functionality and the transactions still have to be entered manually.

Yes I use sub portfolios for my US and CAD investments. Thanks.

Hi Mark,
I just realized I never resolved the Currency issue on text import.

Here is the import string:
UD,SYMB,TRAN,ANUM,BNUM,CNUM,CURRENCY

The first two lines of my text file:
060803,FNMMF.X,BUY,0.950000,400.000000,57.00,USD
080122,FNMMF.X,SELL,0.000000,400.000000,-0.00,USD

Currency Settings:
Default Currency = DEF
Currency 2 = CAN
Currency 3 = USD
Currency 4-24 = ""

When I do a generic import the transaction currencies are set to DEF.

Hi joesmo,

That looks correct. I also just copied/pasted the data below into a test file, and set my currency settings as you've described, and then did a test import. It created a new investment correctly assigned to USD.

Could you maybe have some extra whitespace characters at the end of the line, so it is USD<space> that you aren't seeing? If not, please attach or email us the exact text file you are importing, and I can try importing your specific file.

You can also double check you don't have any extra whitespace character in the Currency Setting dialog where you've assigned the USD and CAD currency symbols.
Thanks,
Mark

Oops, I forgot to update the import file pointer(twice)!
Works fine like you said.
Thanks.

Hi Mark,
Having imported several more files using the generic transaction import function, I can say that there does appear to be an issue with the currency when importing transactions into an empty portfolio. The currency import only works if I create a dummy investment first and assign it the currency I want to import.
Regards,
Joel

Hi Joel,

Can you provide me a sample import file and format string you're using to reproduce this problem?
Thanks,
Mark
