Default Opening Screen

General questions about using Fund Manager that do not fit into any other forum.

Postby davephx » Thu Sep 23, 2010 11:30 pm

Minor but it use to be when I opened FM it opened to my Investment Overlay screen which is what I always use and seemed to remember it. Can nicely go through tracked investments graphed against the S&P500.

Then the default somehow switched so when I open it it opens in the portfolio editor screen even though I seldom go there.

I have searched every option but must be blind. Have no idea why the opening screen changed or how to change it back.

I open from shortcut that links to the main exe:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Fund Manager\Fm.exe"

Hi davephx,

Which windows you have open are saved in your *.mm4 portfolio file. Try this, select the Graph window you want to have in front, and make sure it is how you like it. Then, select "File / Save Portfolio". Now, exit, and re-start Fund Manager to make sure it comes back the way you like.
Thanks,
Mark

That solved it - THANKS.

It was also not remembering my usual year-to-date setting but some other period I selected once. It also didn't originally save my setting to use Yahoo historical for both current and historical.

Changed all (again) and saved and that seems to have solved it.

Not sure how I had "saved" wrong parameters.

Perhaps the problem is also solved by under options being sure "Save Portfolio on Exit" is checked. I though I had but wasn't.

I assume that saves the list view etc settings also.

Hi davephx,

Yes, turning on the option to save portfolio on exit would save it each time you exit. Some preferences are automatically saved as global preferences. This includes things like your selected list view columns.
Thanks,
Mark
