Investment Order

General questions about using Fund Manager that do not fit into any other forum.

Mark;
I am using the Adisor version and in that version is an "Investment" tab in the menu bar. There is a selection named "order" in that tab. This brings up a box which lists all investments in all accounts. My issue is that I have many investments which I no longer have or track. Between accounts and investments the list is about 500 lines. Each new investment has to be moved up or down one line at a time to get it in the correct order for reporting. Is there a faster way? an/or how do you remove investment no longer in portfolios. Closing the investment does not remove it from the list.
Thanks
jnewton

Hi jnewton,

That dialog is for manually adjusting the investment stack order. Investment stack order is only one way to sort your reports. You can also sort by Name, or any other field in the report. See the top level "Sort" menu while viewing a report. These other sort options are generally easier, as you don't have to specify the order. If you do want to sort by investment stack order, this does give you the most flexibility, as you can order the investments in any order you want.

When setting the investment stack order, notice the title bar of the dialog shows the name of the sub-portfolio you are ordering. When viewing a report, this will be the top level sub-portfolio that you are reporting on. The list will contain all displayed investments in this sub-portfolio. If you no longer own some investments you probably want to "hide" them. If you hide them, they won't be displayed in the reports, and won't be in this investment order dialog either, but their effects are still included in any overall totals reported.
