Insufficient memory error

General questions about using Fund Manager that do not fit into any other forum.

Mark,

I've been getting insufficient memory errors after customizing a report and defining a new field and attempting to run the report. FM shuts down.

Thanks,
Michael

Hi Michael,

Are you running version 11.9?

Can I get the equation you're using in your defined field?
Thanks,
Mark

Mark,
I am running 11.9.

I'm not creating a new equation...just need to change the name of a column label on a report so I added new a user defined field with a new name and new column label and inserted one of your already existing fields via the insert field button. Sometimes it doesn't crash. Sometimes it does.

This time I got the insufficient memory error when I inserted tax basis_FIFO_end.

And FM closed.

Thanks,
Michael

Hi Michael,

so I added new a user defined field

When you add a new user defined field, you must give it an equation. What equation are you giving this new user defined field that crashes FM? Is there any certain equation that consistently crashes?
Thanks,
Mark

Mark,

I click in the "Equation"field. Then I click on "insert field" button and choose one of your existing fields.

For example, I want to rename the End_nav column in a custom report to "Unit cost".

So I define a new field with a name and column label of "Unit cost".

In the equation field I insert End_nav by selecting it from the drop down that appears when I click the insert field button.

Then after the field is defined I add it to the custom report and that's when it crashes.

It has happened with several different fields that I added into the "equation" field.

Michael.

Hi Michael,

1) There is a much easier/faster way to rename custom fields than defining new fields. See "Options / Report Column Labels...".

2) I would like to try and reproduce these crashes here, even if you choose to switch to the method I described in #1. If you create a small portfolio, can you reproduce this crash? For example, if you select a single sub-portfolio, and choose "Edit / Copy", and then "File / Close Portfolio" and then "Edit / Paste". This will put just a single sub-portfolio into a new portfolio file. Choose "File / Save Portfolio As..." and give it a new *.mm4 filename. If you run this custom report does it still crash? If so, please create a backup using "File / Backup..." and then email that to me.
Thanks,
Mark
