Alert Not signalling

General questions about using Fund Manager that do not fit into any other forum.

Postby Glenn2 » Sat Jan 26, 2013 12:17 am

I have an alert set-up for a stock and it did not notify me when the condition was met. Yesterday the price went past the level of 1.12 by .01 and then closed right on the alert price. As you can see in the attachment I should have got a pop-up but nothing. The alert is active. Is there something else I need to do to activate it or get alerts to show?

Hi Glenn2,

Price alerts are only activated based on the "Close" price field (which is the current price during the day), not on the high, low, or open fields. If you only retrieved prices at the end of the day, and your recorded "Close" price never went below your alert target, then the alert would not have been activated. Since the "Close" price ended equal to your alert target, it was still not activated. The alert type is set to activate when you go "Below" the alert target price, so it is not activated when equal to the alert target price.

If you had Fund Manager periodically retrieving prices during the day the "Close" price would be updated with the current market price throughout the day, and the alert should have been tripped. I'm guessing you just updated such that the "Close" price never went below your alert target.
Thanks,
Mark
