Sub-Portfolio specific Portfolio Editor Window

General questions about using Fund Manager that do not fit into any other forum.

Postby abruehl » Sun Feb 24, 2013 12:16 pm

I have created a number of Sub-Portfolios, all of very different nature, which means that I would need to see different data/columns depending on the Sub-Portfolio I am working in at that moment. When I add columns in the Portfolio Editor Window, this view (with all selected columns) remains the same regardless of the context, i.e. regardless in which sub-portfolio I am working in.

Is there a way to create sub-portfolio or Investment specific views (listed/visible columns) ?

That would be very helpful and not completely overload the view with columns which are only relevant for other sub-portfolios or investments...

Thanks in advance

Hi abruehl,

Not in the Portfolio Editor, but you can do this with memorized reports. The Portfolio Editor columns stay as you set them for all sub-portfolios. You can however create any number of reports with different columns, and then memorize these reports. You can assign these memorized reports names. They will then be listed at the bottom of your Reports menu.
Thanks,
Mark

Hello Mark,
thanks for your response. YES, I am aware of the custom reports and I am using them extensively too, however the usage of reports and portfolio editor are very different.

I am using the portfolio editor to quickly, instantaneously view portfolios and investments therein. Therefore a crisp view tailored to the nature of the Portfolio or Sub-Portfolio would - in my humble opinion - still be a great improvement to PM.

I am using custom reports more for regular reporting and print outs but not for quick instant revue of the dater I just entered with Portfolio Editor.

Maybe something to take into consideration in one of the next releases.
