Hi Adam,
Use the Portfolio Editor window. Select the sub-portfolio and choose "Edit / Close", or just press the "Delete" key on your keyboard.
Hi - a follow-up to this question...
When I used the Portfolio editor to delete/close an investment, the investment disappeared from the sub-portfolio as expected. However the file is still on my hard drive where it was originally saved. - Is there some automatic way to delete this in FM or do I have to delete it from the folder? - Are there any other associated files that need to be deleted?? - Will deleting it cause any problem for FM?? - Why was it kept around? Thanks - Lloyd
Hi Lloyd,
If you close an investment in Fund Manager, you are closing it from the program, but it is not deleted from your hard drive. Fund Manager never deletes your data files. If you wanted to delete the file, you would have to do so yourself, outside the program. There are only the investment (*.dat) and portfolio (*.mm4) files. If you delete an investment's *.dat file, that removes it completely from your hard drive, there are no other files associated with that investment. As long as you don't have it open in any other portfolio files it won't cause in problems with Fund Manager if you delete it. Closing an investment from one portfolio doesn't necessarily mean it isn't in use by another portfolio file. It is possible to use multiple portfolio files. Fund Manager is not capable of deleting your data files, only closing them...
