What is the easyist way to post a new investment. What i have been doing is clicking new investment under file then when the box appears i fill in the data. Here is my issue, with any other tracking system that i have used when the symbol is typed the name of the Company automatically fills in. I am having to go to another website type in the symbol wait for the name to appear then write down the name, then go back to the new investment box and type in the name. This is ackward at best, is their a quicker better way to originate a new symbol?

Hi cah1942,

For manual data entry in the New Investment dialog, if the new investment is in a security you already own in some other account, you can click the down arrow in the symbol list, and select it. This will fill in all the properties as they are in your other investment with this symbol.

If this new investment is in a totally new security you will have to fill in the details yourself. It doesn't auto-retrieve this from the internet when using the New Investment dialog. You can enter the name and select the investment type, and then press "Lookup..." to find the symbol based off the name.

Also, if you have a broker or mutual fund company on our list that offers online access this is all done automatically for you when you retrieve transactions. Any new securities will be created automatically, based off information from your broker. This list of brokers / mutual fund companies is here:
