Consolidating Investment Files

General questions about using Fund Manager that do not fit into any other forum.

Postby fiscalis » Wed Aug 13, 2008 3:20 pm

I just noticed that FM is storing my investment data files in two different folders on my hard drive. Is there an easy way to consolidate the locations? When I initially installed FM, I put the investment data files in an FM subdirectory I created, titled investments (c:\...my documents\fund manager\investments). Now I notice there is are invesment files in that subdirectory and the one above it. And, yes there are duplicate file names in each.

I'm thinking I might be leaving things as they are!?!

Thanks,
Bill

Hi Bill,

You can do a "File / Save Investment As..." from within Fund Manager to re-save to a new location. Alternatively, you could also close the investments, move them outside of Fund Manager using Windows Explorer, and then re-open them from the new location in Fund Manager. If you use the "Save Investment As" method you don't have to remember what you closed, and re-open it, but you can only do one at a time this way.

To prevent this from happening in the future, look at the "Options..." button next to the "Create New Investments As Needed" option when retrieving or importing transactions. Here you can specify the location of where new investments are automatically created.
Thanks,
Mark
