Location where configuration is stored?

General questions about using Fund Manager that do not fit into any other forum.

Hi,

I'd like to know if the configuration of the interface is stored somewhere where we can copy it?

I run FM on a USB stick so that I'm able to take it with me when I'm travelling, but when I start it on a computer where it never ran, I have to redo the interface config every time(columns and such) Is that config actually stored somewhere where I could simply copy a preconfigured file?

If not, it's no biggie, it doesn't happen often, but when it does, it's a bit tiresome to redo.

Thanks!

Hi kinwolf,

You probably want to use the Portable/Cloud mode when running off a USB stick.

In non-portable mode the config settings are stored in the registry. You can use either regedit or restoring from a Fund Manager *.FMB file will restore them.

If you turn on portable mode the config settings are stored in a file called fmprefs.txt in the same folder as the Fund Manager executable. In this case you can just move your USB stick, and wouldn't have to copy or restore anything. For more on portable mode, see:

Thanks,

Thanks, I didn't know about the portable mode. I've now turned it on and indeed I see the fmprefs.txt file. I'll see if it works next time I'm traveling :)
