can't retrieve prices

General questions about using Fund Manager that do not fit into any other forum.

I am running windows 7 64 bit and FM personal version, 2014.13.7, quote module 481, transaction 200
I can not update or retrieve historical prices. when I open the program, I get error: mywriteprivateprofilestring, error 2, after bypassing that and I enter an investment and try to retrieve prices, I get; Error 9423 Failed to write registry valve, C:\users\ron\app data\roaming\ Fund Manager\prices.csv.
This file is in a read only folder (fund manager) as well as all folders above up to "users" which I changed from read only but they all change back to read only? I have never had this issue with FM before. I am not sure if the "read only" is the problem since all other programs are working and Fund manager was too, last time I used it.

I should have said:
two error messages,

first, Error 9423 Failed to write registry value

then second, could not create internet output log file
C:\users\ron\app data\roaming\fund manager\prices.csv

update, I just started the program as "run as administrator" and found all my old investments and it retrieves prices with no problem. so, problem "fixed" but I would like some comment of the "run as administrator" requirement.

Hi knotreel,

You shouldn't have to run as administrator normally. It sounds like there is a permission issue in your registry. I would suggest making a backup, and then uninstalling Fund Manager. Reinstall the current version. Start the program, and open up your portfolio file. Uninstalling won't remove your data, but it will remove the registry section, so hopefully this will clear up the permission problem, so you can run Fund Manager without being an admin.
Thanks,
Mark
