old record maintenance

General questions about using Fund Manager that do not fit into any other forum.

I have used Fund Manager for many years and with many clients and broker accounts.
Is there any way to purge old records that have zero balances and are older than 3 years?
It looks like I have to delete investment records one by one.

Hi steve at SFI,

There is no automated feature to do this. You could create a Custom report to help you out. Create a report with the fields:

Latest transaction date
Shares (ending)

Using these 2 fields you can look for investments with 0 shares, that have a last transaction date more than 3 years ago. Right mouse click on that investment, and choose "Close Investment".

Is there some reason you want to purge old records? Generally it is best to just keep your transaction in Fund Manager, in case you need to go back and look, or want to look at historical performance covering these earlier time periods. If you close investments, your performance numbers won't be accurate in periods where you owned those closed investments.
Thanks,
Mark
