Internet output log problem

General questions about using Fund Manager that do not fit into any other forum.

Postby MichaelGriffith » Fri Sep 12, 2008 4:29 am

I am getting the same error as gerhardps last month and it also only happens when updating prices.

could not create internet output log file 'c:\documents and settings\michael griffith\application data\fund manager\intlog.txt'
check directory specifications in registry key
'hkey_current_user\
software\beiley software\fund manager\current version\directory location'

I have checked the file and the ReadOnly box is definitely clear. The message says check the registry but does not say which specific key?
Any help please would be much appreciated.

Hi MichaelGriffith,

Please ignore the message part about checking the registry key. That is obsolete, and I'll get that changed for the future.

If you go to that file, and open it with Notepad, can you modify it, and save it?

Does the error in Fund Manager happen all the time, or is it intermittent?
Thanks,
Mark

Thank you for your response. I have no trouble using Notepad to open, change and save the file. I am using a batch file as follows to open Fund Manager and update prices. It does not occur if I update after opening FM, only via the batch file.

Batch File contents: (run from desktop)
cd c:\Program Files\Fund Manager
start FM.exe "C:\datafolder\shares\Portfolio 02.mm4" /I/Q
start FM.exe "C:\datafolder\shares\Portfolio 01.mm4" /I

regards
Michael

Hi Michael,

I'm guessing that the 2nd instance of Fund Manager is trying to access the file, before the first one is finishing up. Try putting a "pause" between the 2 start commands, and see if that doesn't fix it. The "pause" command will require you to hit any key to continue. Wait until the first FM exits, and then hit some key.
Thanks,
Mark

Brilliant - thanks, that was the answer.
I have now put a line 'call wait.bat 5' in between them and wait.bat contains:

@ping 127.0.0.1 -n 2 -w 1000 >nul
@ping 127.0.0.1 -n %1% -w 1000 >nul

Works a treat!
thanks again
regards
Michael
