New file format

General questions about using Fund Manager that do not fit into any other forum.

Postby Ivan » Thu Oct 17, 2019 2:52 pm

Hi Mark,

I just installed the 2020 personal version. I note that the upgrade instructions indicate that the data files are saved in a new format and that FM will warn me that me about that. After the install I updated prices and closed the program, but there was no warning. Not a problem for me - just letting you know.

Another related question. I looked at the modified dates and note that only the updated files were changed, and therefore presumably the only ones updated to the new format. I have many investments that are closed. Doesn't it make more sense to have all files in the same format? If so, is there an easy way to get them all updated?

Thanks,
Ivan

Hi Ivan,

The upgrade information page says:

The Fund Manager 2020 versions uses a new file format, as compared to some prior versions.

If you were using Fund Manager 2018 before, there is no change in file format when moving to Fund Manager 2020.
Thanks,
Mark
