Reorganize Portfolio Hierarchy

General questions about using Fund Manager that do not fit into any other forum.

Postby elliots » Sun Mar 08, 2009 10:02 am

Mark,

I want to reorganize my portfolio hierarchy. I now have

MASTER
---Client Household 1
------Household Member
--------Physical Account
----------Investments
---Client Household 2

I want to have a new hierarchy based on how I retrieve data:

MASTER
---Broker 1
------Household 1
------Household 2
---Broker 2
------Household 3

I have tried creating Broker 1 and dragging households but it doesn't work. How should I do this? I hope I don't have to re-enter data.

Hi Elliot,

You can rearrange this using the Portfolio Editor. You do not need to re-enter any data. I'd suggest reading the tutorial/documentation on the Portfolio Editor to help explain how this works. It works a lot like Windows Explorer, where you drag/drop and move/copy things around. Please read:

and

BTW, it is usually recommended to organize your sub-portfolios in the way you want to graph/report, and not based on how you retrieve data. Retrieving data can be made to go wherever it needs to, based on the assigned account numbers. Your current hierarchy looks quite good... Is there some other reason you wanted to reorganize?
Thanks,
Mark
