How can I duplicate a data file (.dat), rename it, and change the data in it without changing the data in the original file?

Hello,

You can do this a couple of different ways. The idea is to make a copy of the original investment file (*.dat), and then open that in Fund Manager.

You could simply make a copy of the investment file using Windows Explorer, and then in Fund Manager do a "File / Open Investment(s)..." to open this investment file copy. Any changes you make to this file will not affect the original investment file, since they are separate files.

Another way you could this if you're not comfortable using Windows Explorer is to select the investment in the Portfolio Editor, and then choose "File / Save Investment As...". You can now rename this investment file, saving it to a new file. Now, you can re-open the original file, using "File / Open Investment(s)...".
Thanks,
Mark
