Selecting Cash Account at Transaction time

General questions about using Fund Manager that do not fit into any other forum.

Postby Glenn2 » Sat Jan 30, 2010 1:58 pm

I have an International trading account such that when I buy or sell stocks a cash balance is maintained in the currency of the stock . As a result I have several different cash accounts in different currencies for one set of stocks. I can transfer between the cash accounts as needed. I can see how to set-up a default cash account for each folder/portfolio in FM. I do not however want to have to break-up my International Trades into several portfolios/folders as it would be confusing.

Is there anyway to select the cash account to be used at the time of the transaction or to assign a cash account for each Investment? Do you have another solution?

Hi Glenn2,

You cannot choose the cash account at the time of entry, and cannot assign it to a specific investment. Cash account assignments are done at the sub-portfolio level. I would think there are two options here:

1) Create multiple sub-portfolio, one for each currency, so you can assign the proper default cash account to each investment.

2) Do not use a default cash account, and record the cash side of the transactions yourself, manually.
Thanks,
Mark
