copy folder in second computer

General questions about using Fund Manager that do not fit into any other forum.

Postby alciati » Thu Feb 04, 2010 2:50 am

Hi,
I installed the trial version of FundManager in two computers. I ahve done some work on one computer and i have added all portfolio and I changed the parameters of asset classes and investment goals for each investment.
I wanted to move all the folder to the other computer but the parameters are not changed. I ahve all the invsetments but the parameters are as the new versiion (for exacmple I called userdefined 1 = Gold).
Is there any way to solve this?

Thanks
alciati

Hi alciati,

Yes. Many of your customizations, like category names, are stored in the registry, and are global settings. To transfer this information you also need to transfer the registry information. The easiest way to do this is to do a "File / Backup..." from your source computer, and then copy this *.FMB backup file to your other computer, and do a "File / Restore...". The backup/restore copies all your investment files (*.dat), your portfolio file (*.mm4), your registry preferences, and if you're using the Advisor version it also copies your client database.
Thanks,
Mark
