Bank Deposit Sweep question

Questions on using, creating, or understanding data in Fund Manager reports.

Postby larryw » Tue Mar 15, 2016 9:33 pm

I have a year to date report which include each of my stock investments. In this report I include my Bank Deposit Sweep.

The investments date back to last year and include opening balances as of 1/1/16. However, the Bank Deposit Sweeps show $0 with Contribution and Withdrawal and then of course the ending balance.

Why does it show $0 opening balance? Additionally while not an investment I do like to include it but the contribution and withdrawals skew the % gain. Any way to fix this in some setting?

Hi larryw,

The Beginning Value in the Portfolio Performance report is the value on the morning of the report starting date. So, if your report starts on 1/1/16, the Beginning Value is the same as the closing value on 12/31/15. If you buy shares on 1/1/16, these are considered contributions, and won't be part of the Beginning Value, as they were made within the report date range, not before the start.

How is this skewing the %Gain? Do you mean the %Gain for just your bank deposit sweep, or for the whole portfolio? Can you give me some example numbers?
Thanks,
Mark

Thanks, but never mind for now.

I discovered that the balance in the sweep had a 1/1/16 date rather than the actual ending balance as of 12/31/15. I'll have to work on it to see why since these are import numbers.
