Custom Report - Filter Out Zero Dollar Items

Questions on using, creating, or understanding data in Fund Manager reports.

Postby hipped1 » Tue Nov 17, 2015 1:42 pm

I have a custom report to list transfer outs during the current year. Ideally, I would like the output of the report to only consist of items where the dollar value of securities transferred out exceeds $0.00. Currently the output is any security regardless of whether there are transfer out transactions.

Is there a way to filter with transactions >$0? Alternatively, can I create a user defined field that would result in the same outcome?

Thanks!

Hi hipped1,

The Custom report can list by a variety of items, but it sounds like you have it listing by "Investment". You cannot list a Custom report by "Transaction". You may instead want to use an "Investment Transaction" report and you can turn on the filter to only show "Redemptions / Transfer Outs". There is no filter to only show "Transfer Out" transactions, so you'll get Redemptions too, but you'll only see line items for each transaction, and not $0 investment lines.

Since that Custom report is not listing by transaction, you can't filter it by transaction. With a user-defined field it is still going to list the same. Hopefully the Investment Transaction report gets you what you're looking for.
Thanks,
Mark

Thanks Mark, I can make that work. I will put a note in the memo field on these transfer outs so that I can filter by the memo item. Is there a way to have a wildcard I can use in case I don't get the memo exactly the same each time?

Hi hipped1,

Sorry, no, that memo filter doesn't support wildcards. It is case insensitive however.
Thanks,
Mark
