Hi alan,

Are you using an exchange rate investment? See "Options / Currency Settings..." to verify. If you are, then look at that exchange rate investment in the Data Register under the Data Type of "Prices". Each one of those is the daily exchange rate. Make sure you have exchange rates recorded for the dates you need. For more on this, see our currency tutorial:

Hi alan,

I didn't follow... What is the currency assigned to the investment in question? What is your default currency? Do you have an investment assigned as the exchange rate investment between these 2 currencies under "Options / Currency Settings..."? Have you tried watching that tutorial? What is the date range of your Custom report showing the beginning/ending exchange rates? What are the prices in your exchange rate investment on these dates? You might also either email or post some screen shots to help illustrate the problem.
Thanks,
Mark

Hi the currency is a bond in AUD the report is trying to show the change in value in NZD from one date to another
When selecting the report setup I have requested exchange rate at beginning and exchange rate at the end of the report period Both exchange rates are the same although are 9m months apart

Hi alan,

Please send me 2 screen shots:

1) A screen shot of your settings under "Options / Currency Settings..."

2) The Data Register showing the "Prices" data type for the exchange rate investment you have assigned between AUD and NZD
Thanks,
Mark

Hi alan,

Press the "Print Screen" key on your keyboard, and then open up a program like "Paint", and use "Edit / Paste".
Thanks,

Hi alan,

Thanks for sending the data. The problem is your assigned exchange rate investment hasn't had a price update since April 21, 2015, and your report start date is after this. This means the same exchange rate is being used for both the beginning and ending of your report date.

In your CURRENCIES sub-portfolio you have 2 investments for each exchange rate, and I believe you're using a different one than you're expecting. You have some hidden investments in that sub-portfolio which you are using. For example, the hidden investment AUD>NZD is being used under "Options / Currency Settings...", and that hasn't been updated since April 21, 2015. You have a non-hidden investment AUDNZD that does have all the updates. If you just change the assignment in "Options / Currency Settings..." from the AUD>NZD investment to the AUDNZD investment you should get what you're expecting. You can turn on "View / Hidden Investments/Portfolios" to see the hidden investments I'm talking about.
Thanks,
Mark

Thanks yes I had currency problems last year so decided to re create the table with new symbols So now I suppose I can re sign the investments to one on the currency pairs Can I then delete the " duplicate" currency oj just hid toehold one as I had done Anyway I updated the duplicates and can see all is correct

You really hang saved the day again! Cannot say how much I appreciate and rely on the software

Hi Alan,

If you're no longer using the older exchange rate investments you can just "close" them. It is okay to hide them if you want, but they seem redundant with your currently used exchange rate investments, so you may want to just close them.
Thanks,
Mark
