Tracking Performance Against Benchmarks

Questions on using, creating, or understanding data in Fund Manager reports.

Postby dbender54 » Thu Apr 21, 2016 10:44 am

I looked through the forum and saw some discussion about benchmarks, but didn't really seem to find a suggestion about exactly how to set up a comparison (if possible) of my own portfolio's performance against one or more benchmarks, whether it be S&P or Russell or some other index. Is there a way to do this in either a report or graphically?

Thanks.

Hi dbender54,

We have a FAQ on this here that will hopefully help:

https://www.fundmanagersoftware.com/faq ... arison.php

You generally want to set up a separate sub-portfolio for your indices. You can then graphically compare your portfolio to any indices you want using the "Graphs / Portfolio/Investment(s) Overaly" graph types. From within either of these graphs, choose "Help / Help on Graph" for a detailed explanation of how they work. You're basically comparing how well your portfolio did compared to how well you would have done if you had invested the same money into any of the overlaid benchmark investments.
Thanks,
Mark
