Puchases out of pocket (current) column field

Questions on using, creating, or understanding data in Fund Manager reports.

The definition of the column "Puchases out of pocket (current)" states that it does not include reinvestments. This is true when reinvestment is a positive number but it does appear to subtract negative reinvestment amounts. Is the field supposed to work this way? If so, is there a field I can use to get net investment in a security that ignores both positive and negative reinvestment amounts?

Hi cir,

Yes, this is to be expected with this field. The OOP calculation is done using FIFO to determine which shares are owned as of the current report date.

When you have a positive reinvestment, you are only adding shares, with no OOP cost. There is no change in this field.

When you have a negative reinvestment you are selling (the earliest) shares, which you paid OOP money for, and replacing them with no OOP cost shares from the reinvestment.

You could use the "Purchases out of pocket (between)" field instead.
Thanks,
Mark
