Report columns misaligned

Questions on using, creating, or understanding data in Fund Manager reports.

Hi Mark,

Sometimes the columns become misaligned in my (custom) reports. This often occurs when playing with the Exchange Rate Adjusted option on /off (Ctrl+X).

I can even say this bug is systematic just for now. Playing with Ctrl+X repeatedly causes random results in alignment.

But I've restarted FM and the bug is gone...

Hi Djobydjoba,

If you see this issue come back, please check the following:

1) Do you have more than 1 Custom report window open? If you do, try closing all but 1 of the Custom report windows, and see if that fixes it.

2) When you see it happen, if you simply resize the problematic window, forcing it to re-draw, does that clear up that window?
Thanks,
Mark

Mark,

Mark wrote:1) Do you have more than 1 Custom report window open?

Yes, you're right. Seems it can occur when two or more custom reports are open.
I can reproduce now, but it depends on which custom reports are open.

Yes, that fixes it.

Hi Djobydjoba,

Thanks. The source of the issue here is that Custom reports memorize column sizes globally, and not on a per-report basis. That means if you have field X in multiple Custom reports, the last place you (or the automatically sizing algorithm) sets the width for field X in any Custom report, that will apply to all Custom reports with field X. If a report window gets partially re-drawn you can sometimes get drawing artifacts like this. It is usually pretty rare though.
Thanks,
Mark
