Hide Zero Share Balance broken?

Questions on using, creating, or understanding data in Fund Manager reports.

Postby MichelV » Wed Feb 19, 2020 3:22 pm

Hi Mark,

If I'm getting this right, in my Custom report, the last (3) stocks on the attached should not display. However these (3) had activity so it looks like the behaviour is the same for both option selected.

Thanks

Michel

Hi Michel,

If those investments had any activity within the date range of your report, they will be shown, since you have on the option to display hidden investments with activity. I think what may be confusing is that you also have on the option to not display investments with zero shares, which is also true here. However, that second option makes any investment with zero shares as if it were marked with the hidden attribute. The first option overrides the hidden attribute, and will cause any item with activity to be displayed. If you press the "Help..." button in that dialog, it is explained a bit more in the online help. It sounds like you may already know about hiding investments, but we have a tutorial on how to hide investments you might find helpful.
Thanks,
Mark

Hi Mark,

That was the problem. Thanks. Now I see the priority order of these options.

I spent the WE looking at all the video and reading many of the help sections and some of the board post. I'm at the point where sometime I think I saw something and then maybe not. Same goes with menu items/options etc...I'm in the digestion phase right now. It is a fairly dense software and this is what makes it so flexible.

Michel.

Mark, sounds like another request for zero suppression (where, instead of seeing a sea of 0's, one would see blanks instead). Makes it much easier on the eyes when looking for trends. TIA.

Hi danmcco,

Check 2 things:

1) Is "View / Hidden Investments/Portfolios" un-checked?
2) Turn up the share display, and make sure you own 0.000000 (out to 6 places after the decimal point) shares.
Thanks,
Mark

Thanks Mark. View...Hidden was checked when I ran the report even though unchecked in report settings. Unchecking fixed it.
Thanks again,
Dan
