Need help understand long term capital gains

Questions on using, creating, or understanding data in Fund Manager reports.

I have a Distribution Summary that shows LTCapGn but when I run a Captial Gains report that number is considerably smaller and some investments aren't even shown.

Can anyone explain why the difference?

Hi larryw,

The LTCapGn in a Distribution Summary report are distributions of the type "Long Term Capital Gain". The Capital Gains report is showing you the gains/losses on your sold shares. They are 2 different things. For example, go look in the Data Register. Under the "Data Type" for "Distributions" you will see all your distributions, which will reflect in the Distribution Summary report. Under the data type of "Redemptions" you will see entries in the Capital Gains reports for each of these.
Thanks,
Mark
