Transactions download credentials

Deat Mark,
What happens to the login credentials if I download transactions from my institution directly from fund manager? I am happy to input them every time and do not wish them to be saved anywhere whatsoever. Is that possible?

Hi bralim,

If you enter your login userid and password for an account in Fund Manager that information is stored encrypted in your *.mm4 file on your computer. If you want, you can leave the password empty, and Fund Manager will prompt you for it each time, and not store it.

If you don't want to enter your userid either, you would need to set this under "Transaction Retrieve Settings..." in the Portfolio Properties... dialog each time before retrieving, and then remove it again after retrieving.

I suppose the content of the mm4 file is encrypted if I use a password for fundManager? How do I reconcile the use of a password with a command line scheduled task to update prices daily? That is, would fundmanager open nonetheless or would i need to store fundmanager's password somewhere?

Hi bralim,

You can't use the password protection feature and the command line price update feature together. There is currently no automated way to specify the password via command line. Adding a command line option to specify the password would be a good improvement, but it isn't a feature today.
