Questions about updating prices or transactions in Fund Manager
by Ivan » Tue Nov 11, 2014 10:03 am
Hi Mark, This is not really a problem - more a matter of curiosity: I have a mutual fund, TGINX, for which I upload prices, usually daily. A few of the price entries show a very large, nonsensical, negative value in the Open column. but when I double click on that line to show the Edit Price dialog the Open field is empty. Can you tell me what is going on?

Hi Ivan,
I'm not sure... How are you updating prices? If you're retrieving, what quote server are you retrieving from? Is it only for this one symbol that you're seeing this problem?
I would suggest editing these prices, to replace that incorrect data.

Hi Mark,
Like I said, it is not causing a problem and I have already edited out the strange results. I update prices through both Yahoo and Bloomberg, sometimes current prices and sometimes historical. I'll try to do a little experimenting to see if I can determine what is causing this.

Hi Mark,
I did a little checking and Bloomberg regular (not historical) server is the culprit. I also tried another mutual fund I own (VFSTX) and it gave the same kind of strange value in the open field, so it seems to be Bloomberg that has an issue with mutual funds. Again, this is not a problem for me and if you don't see a need to follow up please feel free to ignore this.

Hi Ivan,
Thanks for the help. I see the same problem. We'll investigate a fix.

Hi Ivan,
We've just released an update to fix this. Version 473 of the quote module has this fix, and you can get it by selecting "Help / Fund Manager on the Web / Check for Updates..." from within Fund Manager.
