Unable to retrieve transactions

Questions about updating prices or transactions in Fund Manager

Postby jackpgunn » Tue Jan 13, 2015 8:44 pm

For years I have had no problems retrieving transactions from Charles Schwab and now, maybe because I upgraded to the latest version, I am getting a message saying Failed to Retrieve Portfolio. I read some of the other posts and I know you suggest that it may be a firewall issue but I am able to retrieve prices. When I try to check for updates I get the 12029 error message. Any thoughts?

Thank you

Hi jackpgunn,

What version of Internet Explorer do you have installed on your system?

Try opening up Internet Explorer, and go to "Tools / Internet Options... / Advanced" and click on both "Restore advanced settings" and "Reset... / Reset". Fully exit, and re-start both Internet Explorer and Fund Manager after doing this, and then try retrieving again.
Thanks,
Mark

1) Can you retrieve from other brokers? Is it only Charles Schwab?

2) If you go look in the (hidden) folder:

Windows XP and earlier:
C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Fund Manager

Windows Vista and later:
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Fund Manager

right after you do a retrieve. Do you have a "ofxretr.txt" file with a date/time stamp equal/later than the "ofxpost.txt" file? If you open that up in Notepad, are there any clues in there? You can email us that log file, and we can take a look.
Thanks,
Mark

Can you find that folder? It is a hidden folder, so you have to turn on the display of hidden files/folders. If you still can't find it, why don't you call the office tomorrow, and we can look at this problem together.
Thanks,
Mark

I am lucky that I can even turn on the computer. I will give you a call on Thursday, tomorrow is not good. Thanks for your help so late in the evening.
